A client is looking for a senior or principal level contaminated land specialist with team management and business development experience to join their Environmental Business Stream in the South East..


Job profile

The selected candidate will be required to undertake and oversee contaminated land projects both here in the UK and as necessary overseas. Clients will include local authorities, public sector companies, private developers and international institutions and funding agencies. Projects will cover a variety of areas including site investigation and remediation for major infrastructure and development projects, due diligence assessment for financial institutions and the provision of advice. In addition the person appointed will be expected to undertake business development activities as well as supporting work generated by other divisions within the Group requiring a contaminated land input.

Specific responsibilities will include:
o Delivery of contaminated land desk studies, site investigations, risk assessments (both qualitative and quantative), methodologies and remediation projects
o Business development and the identification of opportunities
o Developing and maintaining technical standards across the group
o Financial, programme and team management
o Client liaison
o Internal quality assurance of projects using company QES system
o Preparation and review of technical inputs to and from other specialism
o Report and bid preparation
o Mentoring and training of graduates

Key Skills

Candidate specification

The successful candidate must have experience of conducting and managing a range of land quality projects covering a variety of areas. A good understanding of current UK environmental legislation, specifically land contamination and waste related, is also required. They also require candidates to have successful experience of business development.

Candidates should also have an appropriate academic qualification and preferably be a Chartered Environmentalist or membership of an appropriate professional body. Proven team leading skills together with enthusiasm and a positive ‘can do’ attitude are essential for this role. Candidates will also be required to show that they have a clear report writing style.
